Murad Acne & Wrinkle Reducer is “step 2″ in the Murad line. It doubles as both an anti-aging product and an acne skin care product.
Why is there a need for both a wrinkle reducer and an acne fighter? Because women (and men) as they age experience hormonal upset which can easily lead to skin problems like acne.
Yes, acne is not just for teenagers!
Murad Acne & Wrinkle Reducer claims to be “clinically proven” to help fight fine lines and wrinkles, while at the same time reducing acne redness, lesions and scarring.
Containing several ingredients to stimulate and boost collagen production, Murad Acne & Wrinkle Reducer promises firmer, smoother and more youthful skin–while ridding it of harmful bacteria which can lead to breakouts.
We like the idea of a two-in-one acne/wrinkle product. But is it really possible to provide the hydration and collagen building ingredients needed for taking care of wrinkles, without clogging already angry pores?

Murad Acne & Wrinkle Reducer Product Details:
Murad Acne & Wrinkle Reducer’s recommended use is twice a day, and is to be applied to a clean, dry face.
Murad Acne & Wrinkle Reducer’s main ingredient is Salicylic Acid which is commonly used in acne products. This usually creates a drying effect on the skin, and kills bacteria deep down in the pores. Salicylic Acid is also effective in reducing oil production in the skin. What it is not good for is treating wrinkles. In fact, drying out the skin can actually lead to more lines and furrows.
Other ingredients to help with “anti-aging” are:
Kombucha Collagen Defense™–stimulates the production of collagen which “plumps” and “fills in” lines and wrinkles from the inside out, and prevents collagen breakdown. The result is smoother, less furrowed skin.
Marine Kelp Extract–lifts and firms the skin.
Willow Bark Extract, Silver and encapsulated Salicylic Acid– penetrates deep to clear out the bacteria that causes breakouts.
Here’s the thing–we can see Murad Acne & Wrinkle Reducer fighting acne. Salicylic Acid is pretty effective at doing that.
But anti-aging? Probably not. The only proven collagen booster is various forms of peptides. Peptides sink below the skin’s surface to where it counts, and work to effectively boost collagen and elastin production for fuller, more youthful and firm skin.
The ingredients in Murad Acne & Wrinkle Reducer are different from what we usually see in an anti-aging product–but not in a good way.
Overall Impression of Murad Acne & Wrinkle Reducer:
Considering we are highlighting anti-aging and wrinkle-fighting products on eyecream.org, we cannot endorse Murad Acne & Wrinkle Reducer.
As we stated, it may well fight acne, but won’t do much for aging skin.
