Juvederm is actually an injectable anti-wrinkle solution, and like Botox, has been approved for use by the FDA.
The drawback with this “smooth gel filler” however, is it can only be used at the discretion of a health care professional, placing it in the realms of an office treatment versus a convenient “at home” product.
With just one treatment, you can experience visible results that will last up to one year. This is in contrast to Botox which needs to be re-done every 4 months or so.
You simply visit the official “JUVÉDERM® XC” website and search for a doctor offering Juvederm in your area using the website search feature.
Unlike Botox, Juvederm is a “plumping” rather than a “freezing” treatment. But they both share the same manufacturer–Allergan Inc.
Is Juvederm more effective than Botox? Juvederm claims it is the “next generation of dermal fillers’ after all…
Price: $800-$1,300 per syringe treatment with payment options (per the discretion of your doctor.)
Juvederm Product Details:
The main ingredient in Juvederm is hyaluronic acid. In your youth you produce hyaluronic acid in abundance, but as your age, sunlight, pollution, poor diet and other factors decrease the amount of HA in your skin.
The lack of HA causes your skin to lose its structure, creating crevices and wrinkles. The premise behind Juvederm is that by increasing hyaluronic acid through gel shots, you will regain the youthful composition of your skin by bolstering skin elasticity and “filling” folds and wrinkles in the subsurface of your skin–or dermis.
And the benefit to using Juvederm over Botox is its safety. Side effects as a result of using Juvederm are rare, whereas Botox can cause extreme skin irritation.
Our Overall Impression of Juvederm:
Injections only take about 15 minutes of your time, and although the results may not be as substantial as with Botox, some users prefer Juvederm due to its safety and less invasive effects.
And Juvederm may seem to cost more than Botox, but not much so when you consider you have to reschedule Botox shots at least twice a year, versus Juvederm’s once a year application.
