Oregon native Robert Helford first developed EB5 in the 1950’s. According to claims, he spent years formulating it in the first place and constantly improved it every year since. He was apparently one of the first to use vitamins E and B5, hence the name EB5, and now there are five creams marketed by this company: a wrinkle cream, a throat cream, a firming cream, a 24 hour moisturizer, and a make up base. Interestingly enough they do provide a full ingredients list.
Price: $39.50
EB5 ingredients include Deionized Water, Propylene Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Stearic Acid, Mineral Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour, Panthenol, Allantoin, Retinyl Palmitate, Cholecalciferol, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Potassium Sorbate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.
Oat flour and allantoin can make great moisturizers. However, retinyl palmitate and urea can easily irritate the skin. EB5 also lacks real wrinkle fighting ingredients in a formula they call the EB5 “wrinkle cream.” They claim that he has updated his formula from year to year, but we are curious to see what exactly those changes were. All these ingredients could have been used in the 1950’s and were developed at that time. More recent developments would include DMAE, peptides, collagen, elastin, things EB5 does not have.
EB5 is exactly the formula some of our grandmothers have used, not just would use. It has some great moisturizers and some irritants, but really nothing else! All of the ingredients could have been found in the 50’s. It has no innovations, and we are not even sure if the formula has changed at all. We would not suggest EB5, especially being that it will cost you $39.50 per bottle.
