Avage

product image

A medication available exclusively through prescriptions, Avage is developed by Allergan, the makers of Botox. They claim it is meant to reduce wrinkles, dark spots, and pigmentations. But most of the time, prescriptions are prescriptions due to some serious side effects and interactions with other medications. Avage is a prescription because of its interactions with other medications in part.

Product Details:

Avage’s only real active ingredient is known as tarzarotene. It has also been used in a prescription known as tazorac, which is used to treat acne vulgaris. It also uses benzyl alcohol as a preservative. Other ingredients include carbomer 934P, carbomer 1342, edentate disodium, medium chain triglycerides, mineral oil, purified water, sodium thiosulfate, sorbitan monooleate, and sodium hydroxide.

Both the main ingredients can easily irritate the skin and cause irritation in addition to interacting with other prescriptions and natural elements. But there is no verification that it would actually reduce wrinkles or renew skin as they would suggest. It is a retinoid type supplement, so it might reduce acne. But it does that partly by drying out bacteria, which again can irritate skin.

Overall Impression of Avage:

Avage is a prescription medication better suited for acne treatment if anything. But even then, it is not for the faint of heart. It is only for those who have frankly hardy skin and can handle harsh chemicals. And even then, it might not actually deal with the problem at hand properly, and may still cause problems.
