AMBI Fade Cream Review

For the most part, we understand when eye cream products claim to provide the best results for everyone. It implies that the formula uses fairly generic ingredients that might provide results for a great deal of people. Although few products can live up to this claim, it’s so common that we don’t even raise a questioning eyebrow.

However, when AMBI Fade made the claim to be specifically designed for “women of color”, we immediately sent out the red flag. True, there is a difference in hair, skin, texture, tone, etc. in women of different nationalities and “colors”, but there is also a huge variety in skin types among women of the same race as well – oily, dry, tough, wrinkled, or smooth. With so many variations of skin, why the need to focus on “women of color”?

The implication that women who don’t fall under the white caucasion stereotype should expect different treatments, whether it be for something as basic as skincare or something as serious as heart palpitations, is aggravating at best, and it’s this kind of stereotyping that leads us to wonder whether AMBI is truly specialized or it is simply trying to target a specific market.

That aside, AMBI may very well have some valid ingredients and components to their formula, but the real question is whether or not AMBI can fight wrinkles – no matter what nationality you may be.

Product Details:

The closest thing we found to wrinkle creams in the AMBI line were fade creams, and unfortunately, the only active ingredients are hydroquinone 2%, and octinoxate 2%.

In essence, hydroquinone is used as a skin whitening agent, and octinoxate is used as a sunscreen to protect whitened skin. For those in certain Asian countries, this is an appealing alternative, because white skin is looked on as a sign of rich class.

However, for the women AMBI describes, is this really an appealing item, or should it be? Would a skin lightening work for someone with darker skin? And if so, should it be applied to the entire face to achieve an even appearance? Or would it create an unusual raccoon effect? If a product supposedly specializes in a specific nationality, such questions need to be addressed, but sadly, AMBI has no answers for the curious consumer.

Aside from that, there are no active wrinkle fighting or age fighting ingredients. As an additional drawback, the whitening ingredients could potentially dry out skin and cause an increased rate of aging instead of slowing it.

Price: varies according to product

Overall Impression of AMBI:

AMBI is largely a company that relies on stereotypes and mistaken impressions of the common population. Although AMBI does have a few ingredients that can improve skin tone and texture, it lacks ingredients that fight wrinkles, and their active ingredients may actually accelerate the process of aging and damage the skin, perhaps beyond repair at some point. As much as we’d like to praise the idea of having a specialized product for various skin types, AMBI is not the ultimate solution everyone is hoping for.
