Alpha Derma CE

product image

Manufactured by Janson Beckett, Alpha Derma CE claims to specialize in “advanced peptide based treatments.” They use the fact that peptides decline with age and are responsible for collagen and elastin growth, but can be supplemented. And they even tout themselves as an alternative to botox, citing Peter Rullan MD. According to their website, Alpha Derma CE will remove the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, repair and prevent damaged skin, tighten and firm, and achieve visible results after just one treatment. Even peptides don’t work that fast, so we are wondering what they use.

Price: $49.95/1 oz

Product Details:

Alpha Derma CE ingredients include Demineralized Spring Water, Acetyl Hexapeptide 3(ARGIRELINE), Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Glycerine, Olive Oil, Oxybenzone, Soybean Oil, Stearic Acid, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Soluble Collagen, Hydrolyzed Elastin, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C Ester), DMAE Bitartrate, Aloe Vera Extract, Glyceryl Stearate, Allantoin, Citric Acid, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Cetyl Alcohol, Simethicone, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth–20, Tea Carbomer 940.

Argireline has been connected to reducing wrinkles by relaxing the muscles associated with facial expressions, but it takes about 30 days to make a noticeable difference. Likewise, collagen and elastin can supplement the skin, but takes a certain amount of time. Likewise, DMAE has been the only ingredient actually proven to make a difference in facial sag. However, with only one peptide, we suspect the concentration is not more than 5%, which is not significant at all. And it is the one peptide that does not actually encourage the growth of collagen and elastin. In short, they use one peptide for name sake and call their formula a “peptide formula.”

Overall Impression of Alpha Derma CE:

Alpha Derma CE is better than about 80% of competitors. They have some real wrinkle fighting ingredients that hold up to research. However, they lack some important ones like Matrixyl or Syncoll as well as the high concentrations that would be associated with success. It’s like having all the best intentions, but not quite accomplishing the broad goals you have set for yourself.
