Formulated especially for men, 4VOO claims that “most beneficial and effective active ingredients available have been combined with pure botanical extracts, essential oils, and vitamins to work in synergy with a man’s skin to provide optimum visible results.” The main problem is that this is nothing more than a marketing ploy. Many health supplements are marketed toward the different sexes, because men’s and women’s bodies are very different. But the largest organ in the body, the skin, is not actually different between the sexes. Most wrinkle creams are marketed more toward women, but not because they work any better for women, but rather because more women care about that type of care.

Most of these ingredients quite frankly are fillers or preservatives such as water and copolymer. Ingredients go in order of highest concentrations, and while even great companies have a first ingredient of water, the really great ones list peptides, collagen, elastin, antioxidants, etc. right after that. 4VOO’s few peptides are listed somewhere in the middle. It also has some ingredients such as different alcohols that may ultimately irritate the skin. But the biggest factor is that we only see a grand total of 2 ingredients in this entire and extensive list that apply to wrinkle reduction.
Very few companies have actually targeted their anti wrinkle marketing toward men, and so 4VOO has cornered a section of the market that most have not dared. However, in doing this, apparently they thought that their marketing would compensate for a half par formula. This is unfortunate, both because we would like to see more inclusive marketing practices for men and women and more great wrinkle products of all kinds. But 4VOO is not going to be that company.
